BenRiach
Benriach was founded in 1897 and is situated on the road running south of Elgin towards Rothes, next door to Longmorn distillery. The distillery closed very shortly after in 1899, and did not reopen until 1965, thanks to purchase by Glenlivet distillers.
Benriach closed again in 1998, but was reopened in 2003 by a consortium led by the legendary figure Billy Walker (who also turned round Glendronach and Glenglassaugh before moving on to Glenallachie). The floor maltings have reopened and Benriach is now available in a range of age statements and in peated and non-peated forms.
