VinoUS Media Review
The 2019 Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard is sensational. Wow. What a wine. Rich, sumptuous and explosive in the glass, the Hayne Zinfandel is just magnificent. Ripe red/purplish fruit, dried flowers, mint, rose petal and hard candy all open in the glass, but what stands out is the wine's mind-blowing balance. Hayne is a Napa Valley Grand Cru, and this wine is a great example of its pedigree. Don't miss it. Drink 2025-2039. (Antonio Galloni)
Planted in 1904 this vineyard embodies that which is truly unique to California's winemaking culture: old vine Zinfandel that is head trained and dry farmed, planted in the heart of the Napa Valley. Ruby violet in the glass, blueberry, fig, and wax on the nose. With mild spice, graphite, black licorice and some floral notes as well, this wine is perhaps most akin to a Barolo (minus the tar). Acid and tannin balance are a strong point in this wine as neither one plays first fiddle. The components are well integrated and harmonized, all of which serves to set this wine apart from its peers. The finish extends in such a way that it almost reverberates on your palate. Either that or we felt a mild earthquake while we tasted this wine. Just go with it. You won't be disappointed.
