Sordo Giovanni Barolo 2020 750ml
$139.00 price per bottle
The Sordo Giovanni winery, a family-run estate, was founded in 1912 by Giuseppe Sordo in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto. The turning point came with Giovanni Sordo, who along with his wife Maria, acquired several elite Nebbiolo vineyards. Today, the fourth generation, led by Giorgio Sordo and his daughter Paola, continues the family tradition. Their philosophy is completely traditional, involving long submerged-cap macerations and aging exclusively in large Slavonian oak barrels to preserve the sincere varietal character of Nebbiolo. The Sordo Barolo 2020 is a monovarietal wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. It exhibits a red garnet colour with orangey nuances that will become more accentuated over time. The aroma is described as delicate, ethereal, intense, pervasive, and lingering, with notes of red berries, dried rose, and hints of fresh red fruit and sweet spices. The flavour is warm, full, complex, dry, and harmonious. The palate is lifted and fresh, with an austerity balanced by the presence of sweet and complex tannins. The wine shows fine-grained tannins and perfectly balanced acidity, providing an elegant structure. This is a very long-lived wine with great evolutionary potential. Food Pairing Barolo's structured nature and savoury elegance pair exceptionally well with rich and complex dishes. Suggested pairings include: Roasts . All game dishes . Lasagne and other meat-based main courses. Lamb dishes. Parmesan Cheese course. A perfect match to enhance the wine's complexity.
