A Malbec from Argentina, specifically the Mendoza region, the grapes are sourced from the Uco Valley, a high-elevation area at the foothills of the Andes. The wine is produced by Antigal Winery & Estates, which was established on the site of a historic winery dating back to 1897 in Russell, Maipú. After a complete refurbishment in 2000, Antigal transformed into a home for high-quality wines. Their winemaking philosophy is centred on the pursuit of excellence and protecting the grapes through a gravity-flow system. The 'Uno' Malbec was the winery's first signature wine, with the number '1' inspired by the metal hoops used to mark the first bottles. Aroma: Offers thick scents of plum, strawberry, and blackberry, with enticing hints of violets, vanilla, and milk chocolate. Other notes can include purple flowers, baking spice, and cocoa. Palate: The wine is packed with flavours of red currants, cassis, blackberry, raisin, and subtle spice accents of cinnamon, vanilla, and star anise. The fruit is brightened by carefully protected natural acidity. Body and Finish: It is extremely smooth in terms of mouthfeel, driven by a slow current of acidity and silky, finely-grained tannins. It provides an agreeably persistent finish. The wine is aged for 8-10 months in French and American oak barrels.
