Henry Pelham The Bootlegger Baco Noir 2023 750ml
$78.75 price per bottle
Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery, which released its first vintage in 1988, is named after Henry Smith, an early settler in the Niagara Peninsula. His father, Nicholas, was a United Empire Loyalist who received the deed to the land where the winery is now located. The Speck brothers, who own the winery, shovel-planted the modern-day vineyards in the Short Hills Bench subregion in 1984, establishing themselves as Ontario's Baco Noir pioneers. Wine Description Aromas and flavours of black currant, blueberry, and spicy notes. Hints of briar patch fruit, smoke, and toasty oak may also be present. On the palate, it is described as bold and sassy with rich fruit, tame tannins, and juicy acidity. The wine is generally medium-bodied, and the stylistic notes highlight its intensity and smooth finish. Food Pairing Pair with grilled red meat, such as flank steak or grilled sirloin, as well as hearty fare like cured meat and hard cheese. The wine's structure and dark fruit character also complement tomato-based pastas and pizzas.
