Tesseron Vineyards 'PYM-RAE' 2017 750ml
$890.00 price per bottle

The 2017 Tesseron Estate 'Pym-Rae' is a red wine from Napa Valley, California. Crafted by the Tesseron family, renowned proprietors of Château Pontet-Canet in Bordeaux, this wine exemplifies their commitment to producing exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of their vineyards. Vineyard and Production Sourced from the estate's vineyard on Mount Veeder, the 2017 'Pym-Rae' is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. The vineyard, originally planted in the late 1990s, has been dry-farmed since its acquisition by the Tesseron family in 2016. The 2017 vintage presented challenges, including a significant heat spike during Labor Day weekend and regional fires during harvest. Despite these conditions, the vineyard's elevation and meticulous vineyard management resulted in healthy, balanced grapes. Notably, no Cabernet Franc was included in this vintage due to the timing of the fires affecting its harvest. The wine was aged in French oak barrels, contributing to its complexity and aging potential. Tasting Notes Appearance : Deep garnet-purple hue. Aroma : Expressive notes of black cherries, mulberries, and plum preserves, complemented by hints of dark chocolate, Indian spices, sandalwood, and cinnamon stick. Palate : Full-bodied and plush, with a firm yet refined structure. Flavors of bright raspberries, mushrooms, and bark are evident, leading to a racy and fine finish. Critical Acclaim Wine Advocate : 97 points. Praised for its depth and complexity, with bold fruit flavors and an opulent undercurrent of spices and wood notes. James Suckling : 97 points. Described as rich, flamboyant, and decadent, with bright fruit and a tight, refined structure. Jeb Dunnuck : 96 points. Serving and Pairing To fully appreciate its complexity, decant the wine for at least an hour before serving at a temperature of 16-18°C (61-64°F). This wine pairs exceptionally well with hearty dishes such as grilled ribeye steak, braised short ribs, or aged cheeses. Its robust structure and depth also make it a suitable companion for rich stews and roasted game meats.
