Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2016 750ml
$2908.99 price per bottle

Château Mouton Rothschild, situated in Pauillac, Bordeaux, France, is one of the region's most esteemed First Growth estates. The château has been under the ownership of the Rothschild family since 1853, with a legacy of producing exceptional wines that blend tradition with innovation. Notably, each vintage's label is uniquely designed by renowned artists, making their bottles as much a collector's item as the wine itself. Wine Description The 2016 vintage is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. This wine presents an opaque garnet-purple hue. On the nose, it offers powerful aromas of blackcurrant cordial, black raspberries, blueberry pie, and melted chocolate, accompanied by hints of aniseed, camphor, and kirsch. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, with fine-grained, silt-like tannins supporting tightly wound fruit layers, culminating in a finish highlighted by mineral nuances. Accolades Wine Advocate – 100 points: "Magic. " International Wine Review – 100 points: "The 2016 Château Mouton Rothschild is nothing short of magical. " James Suckling – 100 points: "One of the most powerful Moutons ever for me. " Food Pairing This wine pairs excellently with rich dishes such as roasted lamb, beef Wellington, or aged cheeses like Comté. These pairings enhance the wine's depth and complexity, creating an unforgettable dining experience. Vintage Quality The 2016 vintage in Pauillac experienced a very wet winter and spring, followed by an extremely dry summer and autumn, resulting in a water deficit by year's end. These conditions contributed to the exceptional quality of the grapes, leading to a wine of remarkable precision and longevity. 100 Points - Jeb Dunnuck Along with the Château Lafite, the 2016 Château Mouton Rothschild is the wine of the vintage from the Médoc and is a truly profound, magical, blockbuster wine in every sense. It’s based on 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, raised in new French oak. Boasting a saturated purple colour as well as an extraordinary bouquet of thick black fruits, lead pencil shavings, new saddle leather, and burning embers, with just a hint of its oak upbringing, this beauty hits the palate with a mammoth amount of fruit and texture yet stays fresh, pure, and light on its feet, with a thrilling sense of minerality as well as building tannins on the finish. It’s one of the most profound young wines I’ve ever tasted, and while it will probably keep for three-quarters of a decade, it offers pleasure even today. Bravo!
