One of Spain's most historic wineries, Marques de Riscal, started in Rioja in 1858. In 1862, it was the first winery to bottle Rioja. The winery continued to grow and expand through the years, producing verdejo in Rueda in 1972 and bringing Sauvignon Blanc to the area in 1974.
The 2020 Verdejo is organic, with pear, almond, hay and white flowers aromas. Look for lemon verbena, pear, some spice and saltiness on the palate. It has a very nice extended finish. Enjoy it with pork or chicken, lemon pasta or white-fleshed fish.
