Larressingle X. O. Grande Réserve Armagnac is produced from a cross-vintage blend of distillates of at least 15 to 20 years of age or more, as opposed to the legal minimum of five. Armagnacs are selected exclusively from wines produced in the Ténaèze and Bas-Armagnac districts, with those from Ténarèze predominant. Smaller proportions of very old brandies from the Bas-Armagnac lend mellowness and richness to the finished spirit. The result is a complex, virile and long-lived Armagnac that is nevertheless very elegant and refined on the palate, with a subtle, smoky bouquet hinting of prunes and hazelnuts and a smooth, lasting finish. Forty-three percent alcohol by volume (86 proof). Technical notes 43% abv
Food pairing The highest-quality Armagnac is usually enjoyed after dinner as a contemplative drink. It should be served at cool room temperature and allowed to warm in the glass, which slowly releases waves of aroma. Pour about 1 inch of Armagnac into a thin tulip-shaped glass or a snifter. The glass may be held in the palm of the hand to warm the liquid. Pause to smell the aromas, then take small sips to appreciate the Armagnac’s smooth texture, its expressive layers of flavor and its lengthy finish.
Producer LARRESSINGLE Armagnac, genuine armagnac produced in Gascony is the result of the distillation of white wines produced from Folle Blanche, Picquepoult and Saint Emilion grapes grown in the strictly limited defined area divided in 3 sub-regions : Bas Armagnac, Tenareze and Haut Armagnac. LARRESSINGLE Armagnac is produced from a cross-vintage blend of distillates. It is selected from wines produced exclusively in the Tenareze and Bas Armagnac districts. Bas Armagnac with its flat, sandy soils, are considered to yield mellow, fruited brandies. Tenareze are different in character, its limestone and clay soils producing powerful, stronger brandies becoming delicate and fine armagnacs after its aging period. Once carefully selected, Larressingle armagnacs are placed in casks during many years under the vigilant care of a family who still supervises with constant care the complex aging process in the same spirit of tradition.
